About Us

Welcome to High School scholastic chess in Washington State! WHSCA is a non-profit organization run by volunteers. The Washington High School Chess Association (WHSCA) organizes and runs the annual Mini Teams (open to MS/JHS/HS players) and High School Team State Championship tournaments.

The officers of the Association are elected annually by the Washington High School Chess Coaches at the High School State Team Tournament. Our latest election was on Feb 27, 2016.

Note the High School Individual State Championship is run by Josh Sinanan, President of the Washington Chess Federation (WCF), as of 3-1-2015.
