About Us
Welcome to High School scholastic chess in Washington State! WHSCA is a non-profit organization run by volunteers. The officers of the Association are elected annually by the Washington High School Chess Coaches at the High School State Team Tournament. Our latest election was on February 26, 2010.
Paul Zurybida has stepped down from the Board as of Feb 2010, after more than 14 years of service to the chess community. We are deeply grateful for his dedication and support to the chess program, and we have all benefited immensely from his time and effort. He gave us much for many years and it will be difficult to fill his shoes. We hope he will continue to be a part of the community in whatever role fits his time available. Thank you, Paul!
